New Logo, Summer Happenings, Upcoming Classes

Recently, CAA board members endeavored to have a new logo developed in advance of our 60th Anniversary (in 2023). Professional graphic designer and CAA member, Kim Mabon volunteered her considerable talent and donated her time to produce our new logo.

And here it is, drum roll please....

For maximum longevity and flexibility, Kim included additional color schemes as well, so you may also see these designs in use:

On August 4th, CAA members Lori Alarcon, Alex Alarcon, and Karla Barney took a group of teens on a tour of the new Cheech Marin Center Chicano Arts and Culture in Riverside. It's an amazing place to visit, and the kids (and adults) truly enjoyed this experience. This opportunity was funded by our Reed Foundation for the Arts grant.

On August 7th, CAA member, Kim Mabon, led this fun and fabulous giant paper sunflower workshop.

If you haven't taken one of Kim's monthly art/craft classes, you are truly missing out! Kim is a natural teacher, and her projects are designed for your success! Her next one is on Sept.3 creating a jumbo sized lighthouse out of clay pots. You can sign up for it here: https://www.coronaartassociation.org/event-details/clay-lighthouse-workshop-with-kim

At our August General Meeting on the 9th, we were treated to a demonstration on hydro-dipping by Cordy and Suubi Stegall of House of Stegall. Hydro-dipping has all of the whimsy of pour painting without quite as much mess or wastage. We all really enjoyed getting involved in this amazing demo!

Do you have an idea or request for meeting demonstrations, with or without a hands-on component? If so, please reach out to Lori Alarcon at lori@coronaartassociation.org

CAA member and altered books artist, Chris Frausto, taught an altered books class to teens under our Reed Grant on August 10, 2022.

We want to thank everyone who came out to the City of Corona's Night Markets this summer to volunteer, visit, and purchase hand-crafted artisan-made objets d'art from our Gallery Gift Shop. If you missed us, no worries, you can always come visit us at the Historic Civic Center -- we are in suite 145.

Becky Floyd is back with another round of mosaic and stained glass classes. For all the details and to sign up go to www.coronaartassociation.org
